Is it really only six months since I was here?
I haven’t written as much as I would like since my return
to the busy routine we call life
Was I really living in this rushing place?
Through Fortune’s grace, I’ve slowed the pace
Yet on this raw March day
my mind goes back to time by the lake
sitting at this table, in front of this blessing
time slowing down
and words flowing
I close my eyes and I’m there again
peaceful and still
This was lovely. I love when I’m transported like this to languid times by a lake or a mountain, in the heat, when the minutes seem to tick by slower. Sigh. What a wonderful thought.
Thank you … I, too, love that sensation of slowing down time …
Isn’t it interesting that all we have to do is close our eyes and we are transported to another place. Lovely poem…
“How did it get so late so soon?”

Thank you for your comment. Love the quote from Dr. Seuss, a most wise fellow.
Only the next time you’re there, you’ll look out, across the great expanse, and see Zia and me as we side-stroke our way from Michigan’s shore. 🙂
A beautiful post, Mar.
Love the idea of lifting my glass in a toast to you and Zia as you swim in Lake Huron!
It’s wonderful to have good memories – that’s part of the fun of travel!
Yes, our memories allow us to revisit those special places anytime we want …
Thanks for this post Mar…it is beautiful.
I’m glad you liked it; thank you for sharing this special place with me.
Can I come too?? If John and Zia will row there.. I’ll fly.. let’s all fly and have a little party:D
This sounds like fun! A little part with my blogging friends on the deck overlooking beautiful Lake Huron. Let’s fly, indeed!
nice scenery, even your laptop screen looks nice
Thank you, Adam. I like how the screen reflects the sky and trees.
Lovely post…I know exactly how you feel. I think about sitting on the deck of our little cottage in Maine in the summer and looking out at the lake.
One of the nice things about a getaway by the water is that we can dream it about the rest of the year…
