Top 5 Isolation Comfort Foods

During this time of global isolation, lockdown and quarantine due to the novel coronavirus, more and more of us have turned to home cooking. I’ve seen that translate into an increase of traffic here on Urban Cottage Life. I was curious about which recipes have been resonating the most with you, so here are our most-viewed recipes during March and April. I’m calling them the Top 5 Isolation Comfort Foods.

Light and dark pink snapdragons and yellow daisies growing in the grass along a Northern Ontario roadside. The image says "Better days are ahead."

But first, I hope you and yours are staying safe and healthy. My heart goes out to anyone who has contracted this virus or seen family and friends suffer through it, or worse, not make it. I feel for those of you thrown into financial stress by layoff, job loss or the slowdown of your business. And if you’re suddenly struggling to work from home (especially if you’re trying to homeschool chidden at the same time), I know that’s not as easy to do as many make it out to be.

I have the utmost respect for essential workers who are on the frontlines, whether in a hospital, grocery store, transport truck, or as first responders and more. My contribution to the battle against the virus is simply to stay home; you’re stepping up and putting yourself at risk for the good of others. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Stay safe, stay healthy.
Protect yourself and protect others.
Stay positive. Better days are ahead.

Simple Comfort Food for Trying Times

Something positive I can do to support this cause is provide simple recipes that are easy to adjust for limited pantries. If you have any questions about substitutions or ideas about what to make with what you have on hand, feel free to contact me here or on the Urban Cottage Life Facebook page. I’ll do my best to respond as soon as I can.

In Case You Were Wondering …

I mentioned above that there’s been more traffic here lately. Just so you know, I don’t make any money from this site. In fact, there’s a cost to running it, just as there is for my other labours of love. Occasionally I get paid for a sponsored post. But there is no profit here.

This is not to say that there’s anything wrong with bloggers making income through their efforts. For some, this is how they support themselves and their families, or supplement their incomes, and they need our support too.

I do derive great satisfaction from seeing that people are visiting the Urban Cottage from all over the world. Thanks to all of you for stopping by.
